DESCRIPTION

gp100 (457–466) is a 10-amino-acid peptide derived from human gp100/PMEL, a melanocyte differentiation antigen expressed in melanocytes and many melanoma cells. The sequence LLDGTATLRL represents a well-characterized HLA-A2-restricted T-cell epitope and has been studied in the context of melanoma-reactive tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes.

Rather than functioning as a direct antitumor compound, this synthetic fragment is primarily useful as a defined antigenic reagent for studying peptide–MHC recognition and antigen-specific cellular immune responses.

Antigen Presentation and T-Cell Research

The gp100 (457–466) sequence was identified in early studies of melanoma-reactive T cells as an HLA-A2-associated gp100 epitope. Its defined peptide–MHC context makes it useful for experiments involving antigen presentation, CTL recognition, peptide-pulsed antigen-presenting cells, and comparative melanoma antigen studies.

For researchers building panels of melanoma-associated epitopes, AS2689 can be evaluated alongside other Tumor-Associated Antigen Peptides with different sequences and HLA restrictions.

Experimental Context

HLA restriction is an important part of experimental design. Results obtained with HLA-A*02:01-positive cells should not automatically be extrapolated to cells expressing unrelated HLA alleles.

When peptide concentration, purity, or assay background is particularly important, our Peptide Applications resource provides additional guidance for epitope mapping and peptide-based immunological workflows.

Quality and Ordering Considerations

For T-cell and peptide-loading experiments, molecular identity and chromatographic purity should be reviewed with the batch-specific documentation. Analytical HPLC and mass spectrometry can provide complementary information for peptide characterization.

For quantitative or assay-sensitive applications, researchers and lab managers can review our Peptide Quality Control capabilities before selecting the required specification.

Storage and Handling

Store the lyophilized material according to the conditions stated for the supplied batch. Reconstituted peptide stability can vary with solvent, concentration, temperature, and storage duration.

Research Use Only

gp100 (457–466) is supplied for research use only. It is not intended for therapeutic, or human use.
