DESCRIPTION

Angiotensin Acetate is a synthetic peptide analog of the endogenous vasoactive hormone angiotensin II, formulated as an acetate salt to enhance stability and solubility in pharmaceutical preparations. This octapeptide (8 amino acids) acts as a potent agonist at angiotensin type 1 (AT1) and type 2 (AT2) receptors, primarily mediating vasoconstriction, aldosterone secretion, sodium retention, and blood pressure regulation. Clinically, it is used to treat hypotensive emergencies (e.g., septic shock) by increasing vascular tone and restoring blood pressure. In pharmacological research, Angiotensin Acetate serves as a tool to investigate renin-angiotensin system (RAS) signaling, receptor activation mechanisms, and the development of antihypertensive therapies (e.g., angiotensin receptor blockers, ARBs). Its acetate modification improves bioavailability and resistance to degradation, making it suitable for parenteral administration in both clinical settings and experimental studies exploring cardiovascular homeostasis, fluid balance, and RAS-related disorders like hypertension and heart failure.
