DESCRIPTION

gp100 (87–95) is a 9-amino-acid fragment of human gp100/PMEL with the sequence ALNFPGSQK. Unlike many commonly studied gp100 epitopes that are HLA-A2 restricted, this peptide has been characterized in the context of the HLA-A3 supertype, including HLA-A3 and HLA-A11.

This different HLA profile gives AS2706 a distinct role within a melanoma antigen panel and makes it useful when research is not limited to HLA-A*02:01 systems.

HLA-A3 Supertype Research

Early peptide-pulsed dendritic-cell studies showed that gp100 (87–95) could generate CTLs capable of recognizing gp100-positive melanoma cells in an HLA-A3 context. The same peptide also demonstrated high-affinity binding and functional recognition in HLA-A11-associated systems.

Subsequent immunopeptidomic work provided additional evidence that ALNFPGSQK can be naturally processed and presented, including association with HLA-A3 and HLA-A11.
