Biotin-Neurokinin B is an N-terminally biotinylated derivative of the complete Neurokinin B sequence. The construct combines DMHDFFVGLM-NH₂ with a biotin affinity handle for streptavidin-based detection, immobilization and ligand-interaction studies.

Affinity Tag Added to the Native NKB Scaffold

The complete NKB sequence is retained downstream of the biotin group, including its C-terminal Met-NH₂. Biotin enables interaction with streptavidin or avidin reagents for capture and detection workflows.

Do Not Assume Native NKB Potency

N-terminal biotinylation increases molecular mass and alters the chemical environment of Asp1. The modified peptide may therefore differ from native NKB in affinity, receptor activation or kinetic behavior.

We recommend including unlabeled Neurokinin B as a functional reference whenever receptor potency is an endpoint.

Analytical Considerations

The construct contains three sulfur atoms: one in biotin and two from the methionine residues of NKB. Both methionines remain susceptible to oxidation.
