DESCRIPTION

Human Angiotensin I is a 10-amino-acid peptide intermediate in the renin–angiotensin system. It is generated from angiotensinogen by renin and serves as the principal precursor of Angiotensin II in the classical RAS pathway.

The sequence contains a C-terminal His-Leu dipeptide that is removed by angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), generating the eight-residue Angiotensin II molecule.

Conversion of Angiotensin I to Angiotensin II

ACE removes the C-terminal His-Leu dipeptide from Angiotensin I:
