DESCRIPTION

β-Amyloid Peptide (1-42), rat is a 42-amino acid peptide derived from the rat amyloid precursor protein (APP), corresponding to the N-terminal to residue 42 of the β-amyloid (Aβ) sequence. While structurally similar to human Aβ(1-42), it contains species-specific amino acid variations that affect its biophysical properties, such as aggregation kinetics and interaction with cellular receptors or processing enzymes. In rats, Aβ peptides are involved in normal neural processes like synaptic signaling and neuroinflammation, though rats do not naturally develop amyloid plaques associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
