DESCRIPTION

Biotin - Bombesin is a modified form of the naturally - occurring peptide bombesin. It is created by conjugating biotin to bombesin. Bombesin is known for its ability to bind to specific receptors, especially gastrin - releasing peptide receptors (GRPR), which are overexpressed in many types of cancer cells, including prostate, breast, and lung cancer. The biotin moiety in Biotin - Bombesin provides a convenient handle for various applications. It allows for easy detection and isolation through streptavidin - based techniques. In research, it is used for receptor binding studies, to understand the interaction between bombesin and its receptors. It also plays a role in targeted imaging and drug delivery strategies, as it can be used to direct imaging agents or therapeutic drugs to cancer cells expressing GRPR, facilitating more accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
