DESCRIPTION

Ac-Angiotensinogen (1-14), porcine is a 14-amino-acid synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminal fragment (residues 1–14) of porcine angiotensinogen, with an N-terminal acetyl (Ac-) modification. As the native substrate for renin in the porcine renin-angiotensin system (RAS), this peptide contains the primary cleavage site recognized by porcine renin, which generates angiotensin I and initiates downstream vasoactive signaling. The acetyl modification enhances stability and membrane permeability, making it a valuable tool in pharmacological and veterinary research to investigate renin binding specificity, enzyme-substrate interactions, and RAS activation in porcine models—relevant for studies on cardiovascular physiology, blood pressure regulation, and translational applications in swine-based biomedical research. By mimicking the natural porcine renin substrate, it supports investigations into species-specific RAS mechanisms, aids in developing renin inhibitors for veterinary use, and facilitates cross-species comparisons in hypertension and heart failure research.
