Home Product Protected Amino Acids, Resins & Reagents Specialty Peptide Building Blocks H-Lys(Boc)-NH2.HCl

DESCRIPTION

H-Lys(Boc)-NH2.HCl is N6-Boc-L-lysinamide hydrochloride. The α-amino group is free as the hydrochloride salt, the lysine ε-amino group is Boc-protected, and the carboxyl group has been converted to a primary amide.

Because the C-terminus is already amidated, this reagent is not a conventional lysine carboxylic acid building block. Its value lies in terminal lysinamide motifs and protected intermediate synthesis.

Product Information

Product NameH-Lys(Boc)-NH2.HCl
Catalog No.AS4190
CAS No.112803-72-2
Molecular FormulaC11H24ClN3O3
Molecular Weight281.78 g/mol
Building Block TypeN6-Boc-L-lysinamide hydrochloride
Primary ApplicationsLysinamide terminal motifs; protected intermediate chemistry; selective lysine derivatization; peptide-mimetic synthesis

The C-Terminal Amide Changes Its Synthetic Role

Conversion of CO2H to CONH2 removes the normal carboxyl handle used for further backbone extension through that terminus. This makes the reagent appropriate for terminal or intermediate chemistry rather than ordinary bidirectional amino-acid coupling.

ε-Boc Leaves the α-Amine Available

The side-chain ε-NH2 remains protected, while the α-amino group can be liberated from its HCl salt and used in an appropriate coupling or derivatization step.

Salt State Affects Stoichiometry

The formula C11H24ClN3O3 and MW 281.78 g/mol include hydrochloride. Using a free-base value for reagent equivalents would introduce a systematic stoichiometric error.

Procurement and QC

Confirm CAS 112803-72-2, N6-Boc protection, primary carboxamide, L stereochemistry, and HCl salt state. PubChem lists this exact compound as not classified under its current GHS summary.

Terminal lysinamide or selectively protected lysine designs can be incorporated through custom peptide synthesis.
