Fmoc-(R)-ethynyl-Ala-OH is an R-configured alanine analog bearing an ethynyl group as a compact unsaturated handle.
The alkyne functionality is useful when researchers want a small bioorthogonal or derivatizable group within a noncanonical residue, while the α-substituted center also changes steric and conformational behavior.

Application Scope in Alkyne-Enabled Peptide Chemistry
A terminal ethynyl group can support copper-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition or other alkyne derivatization strategies when the complete structure provides a terminal alkyne. This enables post-synthetic labeling, immobilization and probe construction.
Backbone and Coupling Effects
The residue is more substituted than ordinary alanine and may couple more slowly. Alkyne compatibility with metal catalysts, reducing agents and scavengers should be considered if post-synthetic click chemistry is planned.
Procurement and QC
Confirm CAS 1217628-27-7, C20H17NO4, MW 335.35 g/mol and R stereochemistry. The alkyne must be confirmed from the structural record rather than inferred from mass.
For alkyne-containing probes or post-synthetic conjugation, Alan Scientific can provide custom modified peptide synthesis.
