Home Product Protected Amino Acids, Resins & Reagents Specialty Peptide Building Blocks Fmoc-Ala-Trp-OH

DESCRIPTION

Fmoc-Ala-Trp-OH is a preassembled Fmoc-protected Ala-Trp dipeptide with a free C-terminal tryptophan carboxyl group.

The fragment combines a compact Ala residue with an indole-containing Trp residue and is useful when the Ala-Trp sequence is fixed across a series or when convergent fragment assembly is preferable to two separate coupling cycles.

Product Information

Product NameFmoc-Ala-Trp-OH
Catalog No.AS4173
CAS No.255381-12-5
Molecular FormulaC29H27N3O5
Molecular Weight497.55 g/mol
Material / Building Block TypeFmoc-protected L-Ala-L-Trp dipeptide fragment
Primary ApplicationsConvergent peptide synthesis; Ala-Trp motif installation; aromatic/hydrophobic fragment assembly; Trp-containing peptide libraries

Application Scope in Fragment Assembly

A preformed Ala-Trp fragment can reduce one coupling step and provide a separately characterized aromatic sequence unit for analog libraries, longer peptide synthesis and selected solution-phase routes.

Tryptophan Changes Solubility and Chromatography

The indole side chain increases aromaticity and hydrophobic retention. In longer sequences, Trp-containing fragments can influence resin swelling, crude solubility and RP-HPLC separation even when coupling itself is efficient.

Identity and QC

Confirm CAS 255381-12-5, C29H27N3O5, MW 497.55 g/mol, sequence direction Ala-Trp and L stereochemistry. Sequence order and stereochemistry are not established by mass alone.

For sequences with several aromatic residues or fragment-coupling steps, Alan Scientific can evaluate the route through custom peptide synthesis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ala-Trp the same as Trp-Ala?

No. Sequence order defines a different molecule.

Why use a preformed dipeptide?

It reduces one downstream coupling step and fixes sequence identity before fragment incorporation.

Does Trp affect purification?

It can increase hydrophobic retention and influence crude peptide solubility.
