DESCRIPTION

Desmopressin Acetate is a synthetic analog of arginine vasopressin (AVP), modified with a D-arginine substitution at position 8 , formulated as an acetate salt to enhance stability and solubility. This nonapeptide selectively activates V2 vasopressin receptors in the kidneys, promoting water reabsorption and reducing urine output, while minimizing vasoconstrictive effects mediated by V1a receptors. Widely used in clinical settings, Desmopressin Acetate treats central diabetes insipidus, nocturnal enuresis, and certain bleeding disorders (e.g., von Willebrand disease). In pharmacological research, it serves as a tool to investigate V2 receptor signaling mechanisms, structure-activity relationships, and therapeutic development for water balance disorders and hemostasis. Its acetate modification improves bioavailability and resistance to degradation, making it suitable for nasal, oral, or parenteral administration in both acute and chronic conditions.
