Z-N-Me-Asp(OtBu)-OH·DCHA is a protected N-methyl aspartic-acid derivative supplied as a dicyclohexylammonium salt. The amino group is Cbz-protected, the Asp side-chain carboxyl is protected as OtBu, and backbone N-methylation remains in the final residue.
The reagent is best suited to route designs where backbone N-methylation and a Cbz-compatible protection strategy are both deliberate choices.

Application Scope in N-Methyl Peptide Design
N-methyl Asp residues are used to alter backbone hydrogen-bond donation, local conformational preference, protease recognition and, in selected constrained peptides, permeability. The effect is position-specific and should be evaluated through matched analogs.
Salt State and Protection Strategy
The DCHA counterion contributes to molecular weight and handling. Cbz and OtBu do not share the same deprotection trigger: Cbz is typically removed reductively, whereas OtBu is acid-labile. Route planning should therefore include the DCHA salt, Cbz removal and final side-chain deprotection.
Procurement and QC
Confirm CAS 200341-08-8, C29H46N2O6, MW 504.67 g/mol, N-methylation, side-chain OtBu protection and the DCHA salt. Reagent equivalents should be calculated from the actual salt form.
For a sequence containing N-methyl Asp or several N-methyl residues, route feasibility can be reviewed through custom noncanonical peptide synthesis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is DCHA included in the product name?
It indicates the dicyclohexylammonium salt form.
Does the N-methyl group remain in the final peptide?
Yes. It is a structural modification rather than a temporary protecting group.
Is this a standard Fmoc monomer?
No. It uses Cbz protection and is better suited to Cbz-compatible or solution-phase route planning.
